6 Tips for New Real Estate Agents

The real estate market is booming and new players are in the game. From personal experience, you may know that learning the business takes time and patience. Each REALTOR® is different and so is their business strategy. Yes, the money is appealing but the REALTORS® that are in it for the long haul are in it for much more than that.

Each week, the ATRE team comes up with helpful tips for our weekly blog but this time, we’re changing things up. We asked a few of our veteran real estate friends to share some tidbits of knowledge about running a real estate business. Here are the 6 tips they shared for new real estate agents getting started.

Real Estate 101

#1 "Do it for the right reasons, not the money." - Claudia Da Silva, Houston, TX

Money will come if you do it for your clients. Not only is it your FIDUCIARY duty, but you will help people. No matter the price point, the money will come. Law of attraction.

#2 "Think outside the box." - Jessie Lockhart, Phoenix, AZ

There’s so many ways to market yourself as an agent. Find what works for you and run with it!

#3 "Get out there and learn." - Sue Pinky Benson, Naples, FL

Learn your MLS forwards and backwards. Start taking classes on technology and how to use it. See the properties in your area and learn the market.

#4 "Establish a business plan (in pencil)." - Lettely Foster & Elisa Dieme Erlich, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Your business plan should include your short term and long term goals. Also, you should include a marketing budget and don't be afraid to make changes along the way.

#5 "Treat this career like a business." - Chance Jackson, Portland, OR

Keep tabs on every expense, conversation, and decision you make. Once a week, organize your system and reset for the next week. Once a month, audit all of the analytics and assess what worked and what didn't.

#6 "Don't give up on yourself because something is hard." - Porshae', Houston, TX

Real estate is hard, but give yourself time to learn and experience the business because the reward is so much greater!
