Getting Your Real Estate Life Together: Q&A Anzhane Slaughter

Name, Location and how long have you been an Agent

Anzhane Slaughter, Seattle WA, about 3 years now

How do you stand apart from other agents?

I stand apart because I look at Real Estate through an equity lens. With my background being in law, I understand that real estate has not always been accessible for people of color. Therefore I make it my priority to target and educate first time homebuyers so they can bring stability and generational wealth to their family.

What is the key to attaining long-term clients?

My promise is to always put my client's interest before my commission. This philosophy has earned me long-term relationships which is more valuable than a commission check any day.

What marketing method is most effective for you and why?

Surprisingly, education had been the most effective marketing method for me. Specifically through the Free First Time Homebuyer classes that are offered through the Washington State Housing and Finance Commission. As a certified educator, I meet buyers from all different backgrounds that are looking to purchase homes. These classes are a perfect opportunity for me to show my skill set and knowledge while also helping others.

What routine do you implement in your daily real estate life?

I make sure to check my records for any birthdays or home anniversaries of past clients. These acts tell my clients that I genuinely care about them while also continuing to build the relationship.

What are your DO's & DON'TS when it comes to conversation starters?

A great "Do" for conversation starter is to begin with a compliment and smile. This tactic will get your foot in the door when meeting new people. A major "Don't" especially in Real Estate is to assume that someone can not afford to buy or that they know nothing about the industry.

Which goals are you looking to achieve this year and what will it take to meet them?

In this COVID era, I set the goal to grow my social media presence over 1k. I am currently at about 400 followers so ill need about 600 more to meet this goal. Help me out ATRE (PLEASE!!).

What's one piece of advice you would give a new agent?

Really take your time and learn your state's Real Estate forms. In Washington, there are forms classes you can attend for little to no cost. I spent my first year really taking advantage of those classes so that I can effectively protect my seller or buyer and of course win offers in this extremely competitive sellers market.
