Getting Your Real Estate Life Together: Q&A with Meghan Schwarzwalder

Name, Location and how long have you been an Agent

Meghan, Austin, TX. 1 year of experience.

How would you describe your brand?

Creative, unique. I feel as though I do my best to make every client feel as though they know me, in person or on social media. I try to include personality and my own flare in everything I do. Consistently going outside of the box with social media posts, like the surfing Realtor or skydiving with a sold sign from ATRE.

How do you differentiate yourself?

Strong social media presence that goes outside the "norm". So many agents rely on word of mouth and don't realize the amount of referrals, feedback and business you can get from social media alone. I also do not have a personal instagram seperate from my business account which allows more people to feel as though I'm personable and relatable to them, even with the majority of my posts showing that I'm a realtor or being real estate related.

What marketing method is most effective for you and why?

Instagram, I focus on thinking outside of the box with my posts and add a personal "flare" to my posts that allow my audience to further engage and find common ground with me.

What marketing method is least effective for you and why?

Fliers, I haven't noticed a great ROI. It seems as though most people will take those and trash them versus finding interest in engagement.

What are your three favorite ways to start a conversation?

Finding a mutual interest in something with a potential client or prospect. Encouraging someone via social media. Being myself, honestly, people connect so much more when you talk to them like a friend versus trying to "sell" yourself as an agent

How are you elevating the look and feel of your business?

In a technology driven and social media presence age, I tend to elevate my business to fit the new and upcoming styles. I strive to maintain a modern business that can still reach every audience.

What's one piece of advice you would give a new agent?

CONSISTENCY is the key to success. You cannot be half in and half out in this business. You get the option to make your own schedule, which is both a gift and a curse. When you're not reaching out to your sphere or potential leads, someone else is. When you're not promoting yourself as an agent, someone else is. You absolutely have to work hard and push yourself. Not having a paycheck coming in every two weeks will be frustrating at times but if you apply yourself in a manner of working that 9-5 shift, you'll see major financial gain.
